Witch's Hat

A "witch's hat" is designed to deal with pipes or other existing fixtures that protrude out of the tank wall into the tank. The fitting is a conical vinyl sleeve with a flat brim and derives the name (Witch's Hat) from its shape. The cone tip is designed to be trimmed off in the field, creating an opening that is slightly smaller than the protruding pipe.

When the liner is installed, a razor knife is used to cut a "X" at the location where the pipe is trying to push through the liner wall. This allows the liner to slide over the pipe and lay flat against the tank. Next the Witch's Hat is slid over, just as if you were using an orange safety cone to cover an object sticking out of the ground. The undersized hole cut into the tip of the "hat" will stretch a little, allowing the pipe to slide through the opening as the brim is pushed flush against the wall of the tank.

With the "hat" in place, all that's left is to create the proper seal. Specialized HH66 vinyl glue is used to attach the hat's brim to the tank liner, chemically bonding the two surfaces so they become like one. At the other end where the hat's tip meets the pipe, two round hose clamps are used to create a seal with the pipe.

Bulkhead Fitting

This 1½" PVC Bulkhead fitting is double threaded and creates a very clean inlet, outlet, or drain fitting. This fitting is designed to go through the wall of a plastic or metal walled tank, creating a gasket sealed "hole" with 1½" PVC threads for addition fittings.
