Care and Maintenance Instructions
Instructions for Clear Vinyl
At Ameri-Brand, we sell clear vinyl by the yard. This clear, flexible material is made of poly vinyl chloride (PVC) which can yellow and become brittle with age and repeated exposure to the sun. The best way to prolong the life of any clear vinyl material is by regular cleaning and maintenance.
Begin by rinsing the surface with water to remove any major dust or sediment which may have built up. Next, wash the surface with a soft towel or rag, using warm soapy water (avoid harsh detergents; dish soap works great!). Finish the cleaning process by thoroughly rinsing the vinyl with clean water. Alternatively, you can splurge and use a fancy cleaner like 303® Fabric and Vinyl Cleaner, but if price is an issue, we recommend using a cheaper soap and saving that money for 303® Aerospace Protectant. Just like waxing your car (only faster), applying this solution after cleaning is a great way to maintain and protect against damaging UV rays.
Instructions for Sunbrella
Sunbrella is an amazing outdoor fabric and we are proud of the many Subrella products we offer, including boat covers, bimini tops, and Sunbrella fabric by the yard. Basic cleaning and maintenance of this fabric is as follows:
Sunbrella fabrics can be cleaned in place (leaving the cover/awning/etc. intact) or by removing the item and washing it on a clean surface or in a washing machine, size permitting. Begin by sweeping off any loose dirt and then rinsing down the item with a hose. Prepare a cleaning solution of lukewarm water and mild detergent such as Woolite or liquid dish soap. Use this solution and a soft bristle brush to clean the item, allowing the cleaning solution to penetrate the fabric. Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is gone and then air dry. Finally, 303® High Tech Fabric Guard™ may be used to restore lost water and stain repellency, if desired.
