Beaded vs. Overlap Liners
Tank liners are largely held in place by gravity and water weight, but the top edge of every vinyl tank liner is secured using liner overlap or a liner bead. Beaded liners are held in place by Bead Tracks attached to the top edge of the tank.
Overlap liners are made with 6"-12" of extra material at the top edge of the liner. The liner is designed so the material goes up the wall and then drapes over the edge of the tank. As it "overlaps" the rim of the tank, it can be secured one of several ways. For thin walls, retaining clip can be placed over the liner wall to hold the liner in place (similar to an above ground pool liner). Another method for round tanks is placing a strap around the rim of the tank which is tensioned on top of the overlapping material to prevent the liner from slipping a back into the tank. Overlap liners can also be secured by rolling up the overlap material around a small batten strip and then screwing the batten to the tank (being careful that your screws only go through rolled vinyl and the batten, not through the actual liner).
