Measuring for a Fabrico Sun Dome
Measure your pool, count its panels, and identify the mounting details needed for a complete dome or replacement cover.
Technical guidance from Tim Merino, Ameri-Brand Products Inc.

Start With Your Pool and Its Mounting Points
To get prices and find the correct Fabrico dome, you need a few details about your pool or spa. The instructions below cover above-ground pools, soft-sided pools, inground pools, and spas and hot tubs.
Record the pool’s brand and model with your measurements. If your pool is not listed, send photos of its top rail, uprights, and mounting points so we can identify the required mounting hardware.
Above-Ground Pool Measurements
Traditional metal-walled pools are divided into panels by their support uprights. The number of panels is important because it equals the number of aluminum supports that hold up the dome. An incorrect count means your new dome will have too many or too few supports.
If counting panels is difficult, count the uprights instead; the number will be the same.
Number of uprights = number of panels = number of dome supports
Soft-Sided Pool Measurements
Not all soft-sided pools are divided into panels like traditional above-ground pools. The measurements you need depend on the shape:
- Rectangular pools: measure the length and width. A panel or upright count is not required.
- Round pools: measure the diameter and count the panels or uprights.
- Oval pools: measure the length and width and count the panels or uprights.
If counting panels is difficult, count the uprights instead; the number will be the same. Use the soft-sided measuring sheet above to record the top-rail details.
Inground Pool Measurements
Inground Sun Domes require width and length measurements. Select a dome large enough to allow walking room around the pool. Failing to preserve enough deck space can make movement inside the enclosure difficult and even dangerous in an emergency.
Always select a dome at least as large as your pool. Undersizing leaves part of the pool uncovered and can require a difficult custom installation. Check the model-specific installation and wooden-base dimensions before building the base.
Spa & Hot Tub Measurements
Measure your spa, then compare it with the available enclosure sizes. Allow extra space around the sides for better mobility and ventilation.
