Blower and Cover
The blower housing is constructed with “blown” polyethylene. It includes a laminated plywood housing, often called the “dog house,” that is assembled in the field and placed over the blower.
The cover helps protect the blower motor from excess moisture. The cover pieces are assembled with small finishing nails or 1 in. galvanized nails and carpenter’s glue. Once the cover is over the blower, route the cord through one of the cover holes so the cover can sit flat.
Air Duct Setup
The blower is equipped with a snorkel tube that directs airflow upward into the dome from the outside. The snorkel tube is pre-mounted onto the blower.
Check that the snorkel tube lies straight and flat while positioning the blower at the dome. Position it so the end extends about 15 in. into the dome.
Sheet-Metal Sleeve
The provided half-circle sheet-metal sleeve goes inside the snorkel tube. Slide it into the snorkel tube through the oval-shaped opening at the end of the tube.
The sleeve helps prevent the snorkel tube from being pinched closed by the weight of the water ballast at the base of the dome wall.
Water-Ballast Positioning
Center the sheet-metal sleeve under the water tube and keep the air duct straight. The snorkel tube should be able to collapse when the blower is off so air does not feed back through the blower opening.
Keep the blower on a stable surface and avoid positioning the duct where it can fold sharply, twist, or sit under unnecessary pressure.
