Measuring for a multi-point, contour pool dome is easy using an AB verifier system from Ameri-Brand Products Inc.
Read This Before You Measure
The video explains the basic AB measuring method used for both custom-shaped pool covers and pool domes. It is included in each section below, so you can go directly to the instructions for your product.
In most cases, contour-shaped pool covers require more measurements than pool domes.
For Pool Covers
Watch the video in Section (A), then follow its measuring format for your custom-shaped pool cover.
Use the pool-cover format shown in the video. The contour-dome layout and instructions in Section (B) are for pool domes only.

This video demonstrates the basic method using a pool cover. For your contour dome, use the dome layout and measuring instructions below, then complete all four steps in this section.
Setting Up & Measuring Perimeters
Determine the shape of your dome by laying coins on the deck of your pool at each location the walls of your dome will change direction. We call these “Points.”
When you are satisfied with the shape of your dome, replace each coin with a numbered mark using an indelible marker. You will need these marks later to line up your dome when installing (if, for any reason, you decide not to install a dome, these marks can be scrubbed off or they will fade away on their own with time.)
Establish A and B locations at exactly 20' apart and 3' away from the wall of the dome. If you have any questions about setting up, please give us a call at 800-982-6966.
Pulling the tape measure tight enough to prevent sagging, measure in feet & inches the perimeter distance between all numbered points. Begin with #1 and work clockwise around the deck. Log these numbers on your measuring sheet (pdf).
Before You Measure Your Contour Dome
Check your layout before recording measurements.
- Mark every turnMark a point anywhere the dome wall changes direction.
- Check A & BPlace A and B exactly 20 feet apart and 3 feet outside the dome wall.
- Work clockwiseBegin at point #1 and work clockwise around the pool.
Have ready: a tape measure, an assistant, an indelible marker, and your measuring sheet.
Step 2 of 4 Dome measurements from point A
Measuring from A to Numbered Points
Measure in feet & inches the distance from A to all other numbered points. Begin with A to 1 and work clockwise around the deck. Log these numbers on your measuring sheet.
Step 3 of 4 Dome measurements from point B
Measuring from B to Numbered Points
Measure in feet & inches the distance from B to all other numbered points. Begin with B to 1 and work clockwise around the deck. Log these numbers on your measuring sheet.
Step 4 of 4 Cross-check & submit
Cross Check Points
Provide at least two cross check dimensions as a double check for us. Log these numbers on your measuring sheet. Once you have gathered all the measurements you need, submit them online using the A-B measurements form or email your completed measuring sheet to [email protected]. We will get back with you right away.
